Pavan Chauhan | January 17th, 2013 at 05:39pm

When a student is allowed to choose his subjects on the basis of his interests and aptitude, the result is usually a better motivated student who is keen to optimize his potential in his chosen area.

It is with this objective that the CBSE designed a tool – the Students Global Aptitude Index (SGAI) to measure the aptitude in combination with interest. Aptitude refers to a student’s inherent capacity, talent or ability, while interests refer to a student’s likes and dislikes. The SGAI is scheduled for the 20th of January, 2013.

Highlights Of CBSE Students’ Global Aptitude Index (SGAI)

  • A 2 ½ hour, paper-pencil test that maps a student’s interest and aptitude profiles

  • Meant for students of class X in CBSE affiliated schools

  • Intended to indicate subject orientations at +2 level

  • Aimed to empower a student with information that will help in making informed subjects choices

  • Net expected benefit is optimizing student’s potential and increasing his satisfaction

  • The broad assessment areas include-

    • Scientific Aptitude

    • Numerical Aptitude

    • Social Aptitude

    • Behavioral Science Aptitude

    • Art Aptitude

    • Interest areas

The results of SGAI taken together with the student’s assessment from other sources will ultimately help students and parents in making informed choices. Honest and sincere responses are the pre- requisites for this test. However, the online Aptitude and Interest Test in Meritnation’s ‘Personality Zone’ will help you get a fair idea on what to expect in the CBSE SGAI.
